Our Philosophy

The children are our future.  Securing the Future. 

Our Credit Union has grown very fast in the last couple of years.  This recent and vigorous growth has challenged our resource base.  We need to take steps so that we can meet the challenges and achieve our goals. 

The credit union is experiencing increasing demand for its services due, in part, to our own planning, the ebb and flow of the economy generally and new programmes that we have developed.  We have sought greater community involvement, particularly with the young. 

Two of the programmes we have trialled to secure the future for the next generations are the active expansion of the Schools Savings Programme and the innovative Community Partnership Programme [Square One].  We were also a major sponsor for the East Coast Community Development Trust's programme - Community Improvement Through Youth.

The Schools savings Programme encourages children to develop a savings habit.  We are helping them to take the first steps in securing their financial future. Your credit union has taken the lead in restoring school savings services to over twenty primary schools. 

The Community Partnership Programme [Square One] enhanced the ability of schools to identify needs and give students an early advantage by bringing forward the purchase of special resources and equipment needed for their development.  This programme assisted schools to secure the educational future for their pupils.

Community Improvement Through Youth developed team work, leadership, citizenship in, not only the high achievers, but in all participants.  They learned about their community while developing fourteen skills - enterprise skills - valuable skills for changing times.  They learned about enterprise, not by participating in a commercial enterprise model, but by participating in a social model based on community projects and teamwork.
