DEPOSIT GUARANTEE SCHEME
In October 2008, the NZ Government announced that all retail deposits in all banks, building societies, CREDIT UNIONS and finance companies (that are not in default of their trust deeds) will be guaranteed by the state, provided each institution meets minimum benchmarks for coverage. There is a limit in the amount protected of NZ$1 million per person in each insitution.
We have applied to the Government Deposit Scheme and are waiting for acceptance.
